Meet The Team
In 2008, Richard relocated to Maryland from Connecticut, where he operated and sold a large tree, lawn and pest control business. He says the beautiful Maryland landscape, warm people, and thriving equestrian community drew him to the area.
After renovating and selling homes for a number of years, including a time as a builder of spec homes, he decided to begin performing home inspections. He says “I wanted to create a company where I could have a team of loyal associates who LOVE helping our customers. Having worked closely with other home inspectors during my time as a builder, I knew I could create a company that offered great services to real estate agents and a great work atmosphere for inspectors.” Richard founded the company in 2012. After spending several years learning the ins and outs of the business he hired his first team members in 2016.“ I had to become a great technician before training others,” he says.
Richard lives in Boonsboro, Maryland, where he enjoys all outdoor activities but especially Fox Chasing. In the USA, riders do not kill the fox, which is why the sport is often called Fox Chasing in lieu of Fox Hunting. Richard is a Whipper-In for the New Market Middletown Valley Hounds. He also enjoys trail riding at nearby Antietam Battlefield and encourages new and regular real estate agents who ride (or want to ride) to give him a ring!
Dan joined the company in 2016, after meeting Richard through the Fox Chasing Community.
The word must frequently used to describe Dan’s work is “thorough.”
We often say that Dan is an old soul in a young person’s body. He drove a model A car to high school and had his pilot’s license as a teenager. His airplane of choice is a 1942 Stearman Biplane.
Prior to joining the company, Dan was an airplane mechanic and as driver of tractor-trailers. He still maintains his CDL, and has an airplane hangar full of antique planes and vehicles he likes to repair in his spare time. He is also renovating his historic farmhouse, which served as a hospital during the Civil War.
Dan’s most recent project is an amphibious plane, and he and Richard are on the lookout for inspection opportunities that might involve a water landing! Dan lives in a 200 year old home on a horse farm in Gettysburg.
Colby has been with the company since 2017. Prior to joining, he worked in the construction industry in project management and sales.
The word our clients use most frequently to describe Colby is “patient.”
On a regular basis, we also encounter agents and clients who say “Oh, I know Colby!” He’s a graduate of Thomas Johnson High School and Shepherd University, where he played football and drove a memorable purple Volkswagen.
Colby has a passion for shelter pets and encourages everyone to adopt whenever possible.
Colby says he is “living the dream” in Middletown, where he, his significant other Bonnie, their dogs and her children call home.
Ash has traveled extensively and held a number of interesting positions, including work inspecting the structural integrity of adventure parks and zip lines. He is also a certified canopy tour guide, has worked as a heavy machinery operator, is rescue trained through Frederick County Fire and Rescue, and speaks Portuguese and Spanish.
Ash lives in Frederick, and enjoys playing the guitar; he has performed downtown at the Church Street Pub.
Client care coordinator
Christina joined the company summer of 2019.
If you’ve ever visited the Main Cup in Middletown, where she works two nights a week either tending bar or serving tables, you’ll see multitasking poetry. Christina has an uncanny way of handling multiple rapid-fire responsibilities all at the same time, and always while smiling and friendly.
She also has experience working in several different office environments, including a real estate brokerage. She understands the challenges and desires of real estate agents and homebuyers and takes seriously her role as conductor of all the daily workings. (If Shelley is the heart of the company, then Christina is the oxygen!)
Christina is also an accomplished baker (and artiste behind our special fox cookies) and a cheerleading coach as well! She lives in Smithsburg with her partner Michael and their children Elsie and Max.
Director of Operations
Melissa joined the company summer of 2019.
Her gift for bringing people together through design led us to engage Melissa to ensure Fox Mountain Property Inspections website is state-of-the-art and all the links speak to one another. She will be leading our re-branding efforts and bringing a fresh look to marketing materials and social media content and communications.
Currently a student at The Academy of Art University, Melissa is enrolled in a rigorous Interior Architecture and Design program to obtain her Masters degree in Healthcare design.
She has extensive backgrounds in healthcare, construction, and mortgage banking. She has also built several spec homes and was a partner at a home interior store in downtown Shepherdstown, where her true love of design flourished.
Melissa and her partner, Tim, live in Shepherdstown, WV with their loud-mouthed orange-haired cat, Lucy.
